Mental health Vs Physical health: Which Is Right for Me?

If you’re feeling mentally or emotionally exhausted, there may be two possible explanations: You’re not cutting yourself enough slack and need to rest and recharge. On the other hand, it may be a sign that you are neglecting your mental health in favor of physical health like mountain monsters trapper health. Here at All-in-One Mental Wellness we want to impart some wisdom about what’s right for each individual, so hopefully the following can help you figure out which is more of a problem for you.

Mental health and physical health are both equally important, with mental wellness coming before physical wellness when it comes time to take care of yourself.

1. Exercise is great for your mental health and physical health.

The benefits of exercise are immediately obvious to anyone who has ever done even a single set of push-ups or sit-ups. The benefits include strengthening your muscles, building more lean muscle mass that burns fat and prevents injury, improving your metabolism so you tend to eat less (if you do need extra calories), and helping to burn calories even when you’re not working out. These benefits will help boost your energy levels and contribute towards feeling better mentally as well as physically. Doing a few days of exercise could be the difference between feeling overwhelmed or having motivation for the tasks at hand!

2. Don’t neglect important mental health habits

It goes without saying that keeping up important mental habits is crucial for maintaining a healthy mind and body; these include prioritizing sleep, eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly. The good doctor is always reminding us to keep these habits in check!

3. Taking time to rest when you need it is important.

When we feel like we need to do physical exercise but are really tired and need to rest, this often feels just as draining mentally as it physically. Like mental health, physical fatigue can lead us to give up on doing what we know is healthy for our bodies, mind and spirit as well as our careers or other important parts of our lives…something that can severely limit our happiness and overall quality of life down the line.

If you’re feeling like your body needs a break, it may be a good idea to start small with a few minutes of meditation. Allowing yourself to rest is an important step towards being able to do the important tasks that need to be done, because even though you might feel like you’re not making any advances or seeing results, the mental and physical work you are doing is definitely paying off if you keep at it.

4. It’s time for some self-care

By taking time for ourselves and doing things we enjoy, we can feel more balanced and whole in our lives. This can help us to handle the more difficult times with more positive energy.

Mental health is just as important as physical health and both are equally necessary for our happiness and well-being. By making sure we’re taking good care of ourselves, we can ensure that we’re in tip top condition to handle whatever life throws at us, no matter what the season may be.

5. It’s hard to feel good when you’re not feeling motivated.

Feeling motivated to do what needs doing is a nice start, but we still have to channel that motivation into action. The good doctor offers the insights that “motivation is what gets you started; habit is what keeps you going.”

Your habits are the patterns of behaviors that form from your behavior over time. These habits can be physical actions, like exercising regularly or going for a run, or mental actions, like meditating on a regular basis. Doing these things over time will help improve your mental health and physical health in the long term.

6. Mental illness is the leading cause of disability in the U.S.

Data from the National Institute of Mental Health show that mental illness is the leading cause of disability in America, costing Americans about $193 billion annually in health care costs as well as lost wages and productivity.

Many people who have a mental illness struggle with depression, anxiety and other social disorders because their doctors don’t take them seriously enough or offer them treatment so they can get back on track and become healthier members of society.

7. It’s possible to have a healthy mind and body sometimes doesn’t work out

For some, it is impossible to have both a healthy mind and physical health. We don’t want to keep anyone from going after the things they want out of life, nor would we want to pit one against the other. Choose what you need and do what’s right for YOU. Remember that there is no right or wrong when it comes to how you exercise or how much sleep you get, but these are important choices that can make all the difference in your overall state of health.

Conclusion:

We hope this article was helpful and gives you some insight as to what you should prioritize based on your needs, but ultimately we want to remind you that taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your body.
