The person responsible for bringing out the most influential electric guitarist to london

One of the most influential electric guitarists in history, Hendrix helped bring the genre of electric blues to London.

Hendrix was born on November 27th, 1942 in Seattle, WA and died on September 18th, 1970.

As for his parents, he was born to a mother of Native American descent and African-American father.

His father left before he was 3 years old which lead to his mother becoming overprotective of him.

After his 2nd grade year, he was expelled for severe behavioral problems (Hendrix 1).

He went to 9 different schools over the next few years.

When he was 12 years old, he moved in with his grandmother.

His grandmother was very strict and disciplined him.

This is where Jimi Hendrix learned to play any instrument he could get his hands on; including the piano, drums, and saxophone.

After high school Hendrix joined The Army for two years (1961-1963) (Hendrix 3).

As a teenager, Hendrix started working as a office boy at a local radio station.

There he met Linda Keith. They began dating and then moved in together (Hendrix 4) .

After they were married, he quit his job at the radio station to work for an Army Recruiting Office.

Later on, he was transferred to Paris where he spent three years during which time he made recordings under the stage name Jimi Hendrix (Hendrix 5).

After moving back to the United States, Hendrix played gigs both solo and with other bands.

The band was called “The Jimi Hendrix Experience”

which became famous because of Electric Lady Studios.

It was there that he recorded his first album entitled “Are You Experienced”.

It sold over 2 million copies in just four months (Hendrix 6).

In 1968, Hendrix played with Bob Dylan on the song “All Along the Watchtower” from his album “Blonde on Blonde”.

In 1969, he released his second studio album with “Electric Ladyland”.

In that same year he also had a short film with Janice Dickinson called “First Movie” which starred Angie Dickinson.

Hendrix became a hippie.

During the late 60s,

He started giving concerts in England and Switzerland.

He also opened a record shop where at times you were allowed to do whatever you wanted as long as you were quiet.

These shows would last from one hour to all night long. The last one lasted over 12 hours (Hendrix 7).

In 1970, Hendrix was offered a gig in California for $1,000,000.

He accepted and was flown to California by a friend.

On the way back to Seattle to pick up his guitar, a fire started in the plane and it crashed in an apartment complex in London.

Jimi Hendrix died at the age of 27.

His funeral was attended by many famous people including Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan (Hendrix 8).

The impact Hendrix had on music is worth noting.

Prior to him becoming famous on his own,

he played with many bands including The Isley Brothers and Little Richard.

He brought the electric guitar out of the blues genre and into rock n’ roll (Hendrix 9).

As for Hendrix’s music,

his albums “Are You Experienced” and “Electric Ladyland” are considered classics in the electric blues genre.

His songs “Purple Haze” and “The Star Spangled Banner” are also played at many sporting events.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience was an American rock band formed in New York City in 1966 by guitarist and songwriter Jimi Hendrix.

It was originally called The Jimi Hendrix Experience, but it featured bassist Billy Cox, drummer Mitch Mitchell, and guitarist Noel Redding before Cox left to be replaced by Tony Franklin.

The band was active until 1970.
