Things to Know About CBD for Children

CBD is a substance obtained from marijuana or hemp. It is available in the market in different forms from chewable gummies to liquid. The substance has in the past few years gained popularity owing to its ability to treat several conditions including those that affect children.

CBD doesn’t make you high. While CBD is normally gotten without a prescription, one of the medications known as Epidiolex is obtained through a prescription from a doctor. There are two severe cases where Epidiolex is prescribed. This includes rare types of epilepsy called Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

Parents often use commercially produced CBD products to manage certain conditions in their children, Caregivers can also use the products for children who are on the autism spectrum. Although CBD has been proved to help manage certain conditions in both adults and children, there is still a lot that’s not known.

What is CBD used for?

There are several conditions in children that CBD can be used on. Nonetheless, only epilepsy has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Myths and facts about CBD

There are a lot of myths that circulate about CBD tincture and other related products. This is mainly because of the lack of proper information with regard to CBD and its use. Those who have used CBD products understand how important and life-saving it can be.

However, there is also another group of the population that neither have neither used nor understood how CBD works. As a result, they tend to spread information that is not accurate as far as CBD for children is concerned.

Myths about CBD

1. All CBD is the same

Although the market is full of CBD tincture and other CBD oils, it is important to understand that not all CBD is created the same. At the moment, FDA does not regulate CBD products in the same manner as they do with drugs and dietary supplements. This means that the potency, amount, and quality of CBD found on any product depends on its source.

2. CBD is an all-in-one cure

Be wary of anything that offers solutions to every problem. Most of those claims are simply not true. Despite the fact that CBD has shown the potential of treating a host of conditions such as epilepsy, nausea, vomiting among others in children, it should be used with caution.

3. CBD and hemp seed oils are one and the same

Some companies secretly use hemp oil in place of CBD since none of them is regulated. This means that you might be buying something that you were promised. Hemp seed oil is obtained purely from seeds whereas CBD oil comes from flowers, leaves, and stalks.

4. CBD has no side effects on children

Almost everything you eat has side effects or can become dangerous when taken in excess. This is the same thing with CBD products. CBD can cause visible side effects in children similar to what you may be trying to treat.

While the health of your child is always a priority, it is important to understand the kind of treatment you are getting into. For more information on the above, you can always check out places like HempFusion.
