Change your career – steps on how to become a real estate agent in Florida!

If you live in the state of Florida and are looking to change your career and your life for the better, then chances are good that you have considered the possibility of becoming a real estate agent.

After all, as a real estate agent, you can make lots of money meeting people, helping them find the homes of their dreams, and having a lot of fun! You can also have total control over your schedule and work as much as you want or as little as you want!

So, if you are wondering how to become a real estate agent in Florida, then you have come to the right place! Let’s break down all the major steps that you have to take together.

Step 1. Complete 63 hours of education

The very first step to getting a real estate license in the state of Florida is to clock at least 63 hours of education in a license course in the state of Florida. This course is going to cover everything that you need to pass the licensing exam and become a sales associate in the state.

Topics include:

  • Foundations of the business of real estate
  • The regulations and statutes related to real estate
  • Relationships within agencies
  • How to make sure that you are remaining compliant with federal and state laws
  • Laws related to real property
  • Mortgages and other financing options

Step 2. Pass the final exam

Following the completion of your 63 hours of official training, you will then have to pass the exams for each unit. You will have to pass the final exam of the course and get a score of at least 70 percent to pass. If you end up failing the exam, you can retest once more within that same year.

If you fail again, you will have to retake the whole course over again before you can retake the exam. For this reason, it is really important to study effectively so you are prepared for the exam!

Step 3. Submit your materials to the DBPR

When you have officially completed your course and passed the exam, the next step will be to submit your fingerprints to the Department of Business & Professional Regulation. You have to do so at least five days before you submit your license application.

Step 4. Complete your license application

Up next, you will then have to apply for a license from the Department of Business & Professional Regulation. Once your application for a license gains approval, you will receive an update from the DBPR regarding your completed application and identification number.

Step 5. Pass the real estate exam

The final step that a person must take to become a real estate agent in the state of Florida is to pass the state and the national parts of the Florida exam. It is easy to schedule the exam online and you need to make sure that you study effectively to pass and start your new career as a real estate agent in the state of Florida!
