One of the most difficult things about being young is that you are constantly in a state of change.

This means that while peers become more and more certain of who they want to be, it’s really hard

to tell exactly where you’ll end up. In early school, many people might be only just now figuring out

what type of person they want to be, so it’s common for them to explore different identities.

This can lead them to experiment with their style; short hair this year, long hair next year, new clothes every day…

It becomes even harder when we have little self-awareness and make decisions from a place of fear or insecurity rather than passion or confidence.

Make no mistake, everyone is insecure at some point in their life. But if you feel that your identity isn’t settling down yet,

it’s best to be patient and wait until you’re ready to set down a firm foundation.

Some people might need multiple years to reach the point of no return, but there are others

who will desperately gravitate towards a particular style as soon as they’re able to define it.

If you notice someone who has an affinity for one particular look, be prepared for them to cling on tenaciously once they’ve decided they’re there to stay.

They’ll hold strong convictions about what they want from their appearance, but may not be aware of what’s appropriate or advantageous for the situation…

most of the time. Instead of finding ways to change what they do, these types are the ones

who will scoff at others and quickly become enemies with those who don’t share their views.

Most people get over their insecurity and learn to accept new or different choices in just a few years,

but there will always be a few – especially in our age group – who seek out as much criticism as possible.

If a person is looking for validation from strangers, it’s usually because they’re insecure about something else.

Meeting up with friends might temporarily lift their spirits (as we all have our own unique brand of positivity),

but they’ll begin seeking out groups that share the same negative mindset. They may never admit it,

but they feel that their own choices have not been validated by society yet, so they try to find people

who not only like the same attitude, but reject all other viewpoints in the process. Since they’re going to look for it anyways,

why not go after the biggest target possible?

If you ever find yourself on the receiving end of a long series of insulting comments,

take a step back and try to remember that it’s most likely coming from their own insecurity – especially

if you’re aware of how much this particular person likes what they do. However, that doesn’t mean you should keep quiet.

Don’t hesitate to remind them that they’ll become more popular if they let go of their current beliefs and act with a little more kindness and self-awareness.

Discussing the issue with them may not be enough, so try to put it in writing.

Anything that can get through to them and make them question the likes of people like them is worth doing,

even if it takes time… maybe especially when you’re dealing with someone who is constantly discouraging others from trying something new.

The truth is that there’s nothing wrong with liking what you do – at least in regards to your personal appearance.

However, there are times when you find that you no longer have a use for certain styles or concepts and it’s time for you to move on.

Perhaps you once felt self-conscious about your hair, but it’s the wrong length now. Maybe you used to be obsessed with a certain color,

but that shade of blue no longer matches your personality. Maybe you always wore black,

but there’s something about the eye-catching color that washes out all of your features.

Heck, maybe you’re sick of every single piece of clothing in your wardrobe and it’s time for a complete overhaul.

The point isn’t to run away from what made you happy in the past, but to move forward into something new and exciting…

just like the rest of us! overwatch be careful who you call ugly in middle school

In reality, this is just another part of growing up .

Too many people overthink their own decisions or feel like they’re too old to experiment with what they wear.

It’s a shame, because there are few things that can make you feel more alive than the right look at the right place.

There’s something about becoming a whole new person in just a few moments that can leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated –

not just with how other people see you, but also with yourself. So if you’re waiting for the day
