CCE stands for Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation. It is the process of evaluation or assessment mandated by the Right to Education Act of the year 2009 which claimed to bring enormous changes from what we are traditionally experiencing to what should be accurately implemented.

It helps the teachers conduct diverse exercises to evaluate students’ performance based on final pen-paper exams conducted for promotion and the entire series of growth resulting from events that the students have gone through throughout their journey in a standard.

It helps a teacher identify the difficulties and problems that a student is facing, which is affecting their cognitive development. The process of evaluation under such a scheme starts at the very beginning of the academic session. Now classes have moved online and

Importance of CCE on Students

The introduction to schemes like Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation, CCE has mainly been introduced to all those students who are not good at academics to score through various alternative ways and areas such as music, sports, athletics, etc. It is a motivation for students

It is in actual practice proved to as one boon for students, which in its many ways has provided opportunities for children to make a stand out for their development. Moreover, it also makes the world realize that scoring well in academics won’t prove anything about one’s talent.

It, however, takes proper care of students’ psychological aspects. It helps teachers and counselors to involve as many diagnostic ways they can to teach and make students possessing different paces learn better.

What has become more important these days is to make learning conducted in a fear-free environment; with fear in their mind, students hesitate to ask questions about concepts they are incapable of understanding. CCE complements the central and vital purpose of education: to enable children to acquire knowledge and develop skills by promoting positive attitudes and values considered conducive enough for an individual’s overall development.

It has been evident that those students who are evolved and evaluated under such scheme introduced in their educational journey are best at co-curricular activities and are not just limited to their academic performances and excellence only. The prime motive of the Continuous and comprehensive evaluation, CCE, is to reduce students’ workload, which has made these students incapable of participating in other activities for the overall growth and development of a student apart from academics.

CCE also promotes overall development into a student by promoting Secular values, enhancing social and personal qualities, and making them emotionally stable. In this scheme introduced within the Right to Education Act of India in 2009, marks are replaced by grades. Under this scheme, the evaluation is done after going through academic and extracurricular activities, which helps reduce the load and improve the overall skills and ability of each student.

CCE supports Individuality

We all will agree that learners can learn differently like with online teaching apps or live classes; hence, it won’t be justifiable to evaluate different learners on academic modes and performances only. Therefore, for evaluating other learners overall, teachers, evaluators, and counselors need to implement various techniques and tools like Project works assignments and oral tests that should be monitored regularly and recorded so far to make a final evaluation.

Conclusion

With the introduction of CCE, students have been provided with ample opportunities to exhibit their competencies and skills through various assessment activities, which are regulated and monitored regularly.

CCE involves diagnostic teaching where efforts have been made to make these evaluation assessments systematic, planned, and well designed. It enables the teachers to implement programs and activities as an approach towards those children showing adequate progress in remedial instruction.
